It’s about time (i know i know)
I was in a band from 1989 until about 1996 called Serious Pilgrim. I could write a blogpost as long as “The Iliad” about all of the madcap adventure we enjoyed and endured over the time of our existence. But I’d rather share the music.
We recorded three demo cassettes and 1 full-length album, and two of the demo cassettes have finally crashed the digital music party.
Here’s where you can find them: www.seriouspilgrim.bandcamp.com
Our first demo, Serious Pilgrim, containing 6 songs (two of which I sing lead on), was recorded over the summer of 1989 (when I was 4)… and Rest It On Your Face was recorded over the summer of 1991 (when I was 16). I sing lead on two tracks of this one as well.
I took the time to re-master the original cassette (I pulled the master DAT tapes, digitized ‘em and did the mastering thing)… I don’t think even we heard these recordings this clearly back when we made them. Folks who dug the band absolutely never did; remember, at that time, people were sharing music by making copies of copies of copies of drop-out-ridden cassette tapes. Hiss! Dropouts! Mangled ribbons of music! Distant, cloudy tones!
Rest It On Your Face is taken directly from the CD version, which was released sometime in 1992 (the alcohol-and-sedative-soaked memories are blurry).
So here it is in its full-on glory, for better or for worse. Both cassettes are streaming there in hi-fi… and they can be had as well if you find them worthy.
For what it’s worth, all of my solo musical output is also at the bandcamp site, but at www.martinrivas.bandcamp.com
